This is the first in a series of little posts on some of the great new ways technology can enhance your musical learning.

Don’t know the name of that wonderful Irish tune you can’t stop humming, or recorded a little bit of in the Session Bar?


This is a FANTASTIC app (application) that you can download on your iPhone or iPad or Android.  You use it to record a few seconds of the tune being played, and it goes off and comes back and tells you what it thinks the tune is – with links to the sheet music and/or sound – so you can check if it got it right.

Don’t be put off – for all the physics – there’s a combination of kinesthetics (your body) and your ear coming together to make micro adjustments – that means it’s a lot like walking.  It starts off difficult but becomes second nature.
